Nano Dimension Ltd, A Leader In Digital Manufacturing Solutions, Today Announced The Completion Of Its Acquisition Of Markforged Holding Corporation Proving The Company A Strong Foothold In Metal And Composite Manufacturing Solution

Nano Dimension Ltd. (Nasdaq: NNDM), an Israel-based leader in digital manufacturing solutions, announced on April 25, 2025, the completion of its $116 million acquisition of Markforged Holding Corporation (NYSE: MKFG), a Massachusetts-based innovator in metal and composite additive manufacturing. The all-cash deal, first disclosed on September 25, 2024, integrates Markforged’s Digital Forge platform, including its continuous fiber 3D printers and Metal X systems, into Nano Dimension’s portfolio of electronics and PCB printing solutions. The acquisition, valued at $5.40 per share, enhances Nano’s capabilities in industrial-grade metal and carbon fiber printing, serving aerospace, automotive, and defense sectors. With Markforged’s 400+ employees and 2024 revenue of $94 million, the combined entity targets a $50 billion additive manufacturing market, leveraging 2,000 global customers, including NASA and Ford. CEO Yoav Stern emphasized the “complementary technologies” driving Industry 4.0 adoption. The deal, funded by Nano’s cash reserves, is expected to create 100 new jobs in the U.S., boosting Massachusetts’ 30,000-strong manufacturing workforce.

For the precision machining industry, Nano Dimension’s acquisition underscores the critical role of CNC grinding in additive manufacturing.

For the precision machining industry, Nano Dimension’s acquisition underscores the critical role of CNC grinding in additive manufacturing. Markforged’s 3D printers require precision-machined components, such as extruder gears and build plates, crafted with CNC grinding to achieve sub-micron surface finishes for reliable metal and composite printing. CNC grinding ensures high-accuracy tooling and fixtures, supporting automated systems integrated with real-time quality control for scalable production. The expanded capabilities drive demand for local machine shops to supply custom parts, adopting AI-driven machining and hybrid manufacturing techniques. As part of a $50 billion precision manufacturing market, this acquisition creates opportunities for suppliers in Massachusetts, where manufacturing jobs have grown 2% since 2022, strengthening supply chains amid tariff-driven reshoring pressures.
