Modine Manufacturing Is Expanding In Southeast Wisconsin With Plans To Hire About 300
Workers At A New Manufacturing Facility In Franklin By Early Next Year

Modine Manufacturing Company (NYSE: MOD), a Racine, Wisconsin-based thermal

management leader, announced on July 31, 2025, a $100 million expansion with a new 150,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Franklin, Wisconsin, at 10200 W. Franklin Dr. The plant, set to open in Q1 2026, will produce battery cooling systems for electric vehicles, creating 300 jobs and supporting Southeast Wisconsin’s 50,000-strong manufacturing workforce. Backed by a $5 million Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) grant, the project targets a $5 billion EV thermal management market, aligning with President Trump’s 10% global tariffs. CEO Thomas Fields stated, “This facility accelerates our EV growth, strengthening U.S. supply chains.”

For the precision machining industry, Modine’s expansion highlights the critical role of rake angle in manufacturing EV cooling components. Parts like heat exchangers require CNC milling with optimized rake angles, typically 5–15 degrees, to achieve tolerances within ±0.001 inches and surface roughness as low as Ra 8 µin for aluminum alloys. 5-axis milling machines, designed with positive rake angles to reduce cutting forces, support automated production with real-time quality control. The project drives demand for local machine shops to supply precision tooling, adopting Industry 4.0 technologies like AI-driven milling and additive manufacturing. As part of a $50 billion precision manufacturing market, this initiative creates opportunities for suppliers in Wisconsin, where manufacturing jobs grew 2% since 2022, strengthening EV supply chains.
