AZZ Inc. Expands U.S. Footprint with Acquisition of Canton Galvanizing, Boosting Capacity and Regional Reach
Fort Worth–based AZZ Inc., a top provider of hot-dip galvanizing and coil coating services, has announced the acquisition of all assets of Canton Galvanizing, LLC, a privately held company located in Canton, Ohio. This strategic move strengthens AZZ’s North American galvanizing network and enhances its ability to serve key industrial, infrastructure, and construction markets. Canton Galvanizing’s established operations and customer base provide AZZ with expanded capabilities in the Midwest, a region with strong demand for corrosion-resistant steel treatments.
For the precision machining industry, this acquisition is significant. As more OEMs and fabricators adopt galvanized components for structural integrity and environmental durability, machinists must adapt to the specific characteristics of galvanized steel. Pre- and post-galvanizing machining processes—including threading, hole alignment, and surface finishing—require skilled handling to maintain tolerances while preserving the protective zinc coating. Additionally, with AZZ’s expanded capacity, machine shops serving fabrication or welding partners may experience increased demand for galvanized-ready machined parts and fixtures compatible with high-volume coating workflows.

What is the Hot-Dip Galvanizing?
This is one of many key terms of our broad Machine Nation Essential Modern Precision Industries Guidebook (MPIG). Click here to get a copy straight to your inbox.
Hot-Dip Galvanizing – A corrosion protection process where steel parts are submerged in molten zinc, creating a metallurgically bonded coating. Precision machinists working with galvanized parts must account for coating thickness and potential dimensional changes when planning tolerances and fits.
