Fluence Energy Has Opened A New Energy Storage Manufacturing Facility In Goodyear, Arizona. The Company Is Part Of A Broader $700 Million Initiative Expected To Create More Than 1,200 Manufacturing Jobs And 450 Construction Jobs In 2025

Fluence Energy, a leader in grid-scale energy storage, commenced production at its new manufacturing facility in Goodyear, Arizona, on May 20, 2025, as part of a $700 million initiative in partnership with GTI Fabrication. The 300,000-square-foot facility, located in Maricopa County, produces battery enclosures and system hardware for battery energy storage systems (BESS), targeting a $10 billion U.S. energy storage market driven by renewable energy growth. The plant is expected to create 250 of the initiative’s 1,200 manufacturing jobs and 450 construction jobs in 2025, boosting Arizona’s 40,000-strong manufacturing workforce. Supported by Inflation Reduction Act tax credits and state incentives, the facility aligns with tariff-driven reshoring under President Trump’s 25% steel tariffs, enhancing domestic supply chains. CEO Julian Nebreda emphasized the plant’s role in “accelerating America’s clean energy transition” with scalable, U.S.-made BESS solutions.

For the precision machining industry, Fluence’s facility highlights the critical role of cutting speed in manufacturing energy storage components. Parts like battery enclosure frames require CNC milling with optimized cutting speeds, typically 100–500 feet per minute (FPM), to achieve tolerances within ±0.001 inches and surface roughness as low as Ra 8 µin for high-strength alloys. 5-axis milling machines, calibrated for precise cutting speed, ensure efficient material removal in automated production with real-time quality control. The facility’s scale drives demand for local machine shops to supply precision tooling, adopting Industry 4.0 technologies like AI-driven milling and additive manufacturing. As part of a $50 billion precision manufacturing market, this project creates opportunities for suppliers in Arizona, where manufacturing jobs grew 2% since 2022, strengthening clean energy supply chains.
