Georgia-headquartered Flock Safety, A Leading Safety Technology Solutions Provider, Is Opening A New Manufacturing Facility In Smyrna

Flock Safety, a Georgia-based leader in public safety technology, celebrated the opening of a new 97,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Smyrna, Georgia, on April 2, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Governor Brian Kemp, Smyrna Mayor Derek Norton, and Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid. The $10 million investment, supported by the Georgia Department of Economic Development and local partners, is expected to create 210 jobs over three years, focusing on producing Drone as First Responder systems, license plate readers, security cameras, and solar panels, as well as refurbishing damaged devices. The facility, which builds on Flock’s 2017 founding in Georgia and its $275 million funding round in March 2025, will reach full operations by 2027, serving over 300 law enforcement agencies and 100 businesses statewide. CEO Garrett Langley emphasized its role in advancing Georgia’s aerospace leadership, with drones designed for rapid 911-integrated responses.

For the precision machining industry, Flock Safety’s Smyrna facility underscores the critical role of automated assembly in scaling high-tech safety solutions.

For the precision machining industry, Flock Safety’s Smyrna facility underscores the critical role of automated assembly in scaling high-tech safety solutions. Manufacturing drones and cameras requires precision-machined components, such as aluminum airframes, thermal sensor housings, and solar panel mounts, produced with CNC machining and laser cutting to achieve sub-millimeter tolerances for reliability in harsh environments. Automated assembly lines, integrated with robotic arms and vision systems, streamline production of these parts, demanding precision-fabricated jigs and fixtures crafted through 5-axis milling. The facility’s output drives demand for local machine shops to supply custom components, fostering advancements in automation and lightweight materials like composites. As part of a $60 billion public safety tech market, this expansion creates opportunities for manufacturers to innovate in a hub like Cobb County, where 7,000 manufacturing jobs were added since 2020, enhancing regional supply chains and technical expertise.
