Columbia Became the First U.S. Academic Institution To Join The Richtech Accelerator Program, Which Aims To Support Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Resources
Columbia University has made history as the first U.S. academic institution to partner with Richtech Robotics Inc. (Nasdaq: RR) in its newly launched Richtech Accelerator Program, announced on February 12, 2025. This initiative, designed to bolster AI and robotics research, provides universities with access to Richtech’s commercially tested robotic systems—such as autonomous mobile robots and robotic arms powered by NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano.
Columbia’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, led by Associate Professor Zhou Yu, will spearhead research focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) to enhance human-robot interactions, integrating localized NLP models into Richtech’s platforms. The program aims to accelerate innovation in areas like machine vision, path planning, and collaborative robotics, benefiting industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and hospitality.
By leveraging Richtech’s 300+ deployed robots worldwide, Columbia researchers can bypass the costly and time-intensive process of building robotic frameworks from scratch, allowing for faster development and potential commercialization of AI-driven solutions. This partnership not only strengthens Columbia’s position at the forefront of AI and robotics but also aligns with Richtech’s mission to reduce human labor burdens through technology, fostering a collaborative ecosystem that could redefine industry standards in 2025 and beyond.
