Ami Metals Inc., A Global Aerospace Manufacturer, Has Announced It Will Nearly Double Its Inland Northwest Footprint By Building A New 101,000-Square-Foot Facility In Spokane Valley

AMI Metals Inc., a Brentwood, Tennessee-based global aerospace manufacturer, announced on June 18, 2025, at the Paris Air Show, a $9 million investment to build a 101,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility at 4024 N. Barker Road in Spokane Valley, Washington. The new facility, constructed on a 12-acre site acquired for $4.3 million, will replace AMI’s current 56,000-square-foot leased space at 301 N. Haven St. in Spokane, nearly doubling its Inland Northwest footprint. The facility will enhance AMI’s capacity to process aluminum plates, sheets, bars, and stainless steel for aerospace applications, using CNC machining, precision cutting, drilling, and tapping services. The project is expected to create 100 jobs, supporting Spokane County’s 10,000-strong manufacturing workforce, and aligns with tariff-driven reshoring under President Trump’s 25% steel tariffs, targeting a $5 billion aerospace materials market. President Bernie Rees stated, “This expansion reflects our strong commitment to the aerospace industry in the Northwest region of the U.S.”

For the precision machining industry, AMI’s new facility underscores the critical role of feed per tooth in manufacturing aerospace components. Aluminum plates for aircraft structures require CNC milling with precise feed per tooth, typically 0.002–0.008 inches, to achieve tolerances within ±0.0005 inches and surface roughness as low as Ra 4 µin for high-strength alloys. 5-axis milling machines, optimized with controlled feed per tooth to balance material removal and tool life, ensure precision in automated production with real-time quality control. The project drives demand for local machine shops to supply precision tooling, adopting Industry 4.0 technologies like AI-driven milling and additive manufacturing. As part of a $50 billion precision manufacturing market, this initiative creates opportunities for suppliers in Washington, where manufacturing jobs grew 2% since 2022, strengthening aerospace supply chains.
