Amca Has Launched With $76.5 Million In Initial Funding And A Vision To Acquire Specialized Suppliers And Develop New Products
The Advanced Manufacturing Company of America (Amca), headquartered in El Segundo, California, launched on April 9, 2025, with $76.5 million in initial funding to acquire specialized aerospace and defense suppliers and develop innovative products. Backed by Caffeinated Capital, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz, Amca acquired its first supplier, Electro-Mech Components, Inc., a 60-year-old South El Monte, California-based manufacturer of human-machine interface products like switches for aircraft and military vehicles, serving clients like Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Led by CEO Jai Malik and former SpaceX engineering lead Eli Giovanetti, Amca aims to revitalize legacy suppliers by integrating their expertise with modern engineering to produce mission-critical components such as sensors, power units, and flight-control computers. The company plans at least five more acquisitions by 2027, targeting a $60 billion aerospace supply chain market strained by backlogs at Boeing and Airbus.
For the precision machining industry, Amca’s launch and acquisition strategy highlight the pivotal role of precision assembly in aerospace manufacturing. Electro-Mech’s switches and related components require high-tolerance parts, such as micro-machined contacts and housings, produced with CNC machining and 5-axis milling to ensure reliability in extreme conditions. Precision assembly processes, integrating these parts with automated pick-and-place systems and laser welding, are critical for scaling production while maintaining quality. Amca’s focus on modernizing legacy suppliers drives demand for machine shops to adopt advanced manufacturing techniques, including real-time quality control and additive manufacturing for rapid prototyping. This initiative fosters innovation in lightweight alloys and composites, creating opportunities for manufacturers in a $40 billion precision machining market and strengthening supply chains in regions like Southern California, where aerospace employs over 200,000 workers.
