AIR Launches eVTOL Manufacturing Facility in Israel Amid Rising Demand for Electric Aviation
AIR, a developer of midsize electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has officially opened a 32,000 square foot production facility in central Israel. This new site marks a major leap from prototype development to scalable manufacturing and positions the company to meet growing global demand for electric flight solutions in both consumer and urban mobility markets. The facility will support full assembly of AIR’s flagship aircraft, AIR ONE, which is designed for personal transportation with a range of up to 110 miles and a top speed of 155 mph.
The facility will focus on integrating advanced composites, battery systems, and lightweight structural components into a compact, modular production flow. AIR’s investment signals a broader shift toward electrified aviation infrastructure, as regulators and investors continue to support alternatives to conventional fossil-fueled air travel. The move also aligns with Israel’s growing aerospace sector, which is attracting increased interest from mobility and defense technology firms.
For the precision machining industry, the launch of AIR’s facility presents emerging opportunities across multiple disciplines. Electric aircraft require an array of tight-tolerance, weight-sensitive parts—including motor mounts, propulsion shaft components, airframe linkages, control housings, and custom fasteners. Machine shops capable of 5-axis machining, surface treatment for composite compatibility, and thermal control solutions are increasingly valuable. Moreover, the demand for reliable parts made from titanium, Inconel, and aerospace aluminum alloys is expected to rise alongside production. Shops able to prove aerospace quality standards like AS9100 are particularly well-positioned to benefit.
