A Longtime Muskegon Company, SRS Fiberglass, Is Expanding Its Operations By Purchasing A Vacant Building To Launch A New Business Venture That Will Create More Than 50 Jobs In The Next Two Years

SRS Fiberglass Products, LLC, a Muskegon, Michigan-based manufacturer founded in 2011, announced on July 22, 2025, a $5 million expansion by acquiring a vacant 40,000-square-foot building at 331 West Laketon Avenue to launch a new business venture. The expansion, driven by the exit of an out-of-state supplier, enables SRS to produce raw fiberglass materials for its HVAC components, which hold a near-100% market share in air handling systems. The project, supported by a $500,000 grant from the Muskegon City Commission, will create over 50 full-time manufacturing jobs within two years, increasing the company’s local workforce from 75 to over 125 and supporting Muskegon’s 20,000-strong manufacturing base. Production is set to begin in Q2 2026, with upgrades to the long-vacant former Great Lakes Die Cast facility, including six new CNC milling machines. Aligned with President Trump’s 10% global tariffs, it targets a $5 billion fiberglass market. President Steve Bradish stated, “This expansion strengthens our supply chain and revitalizes Muskegon’s industrial core.”

For the precision machining industry, SRS Fiberglass’s expansion highlights the critical role of feed rate in manufacturing fiberglass components. Parts like HVAC acoustic panels require CNC milling with precise feed rates, typically 10–50 inches per minute, to achieve tolerances within ±0.001 inches and surface roughness as low as Ra 8 µin for fiberglass composites. 5-axis milling machines, optimized for feed rate to balance efficiency and material integrity, support automated production with real-time quality control. The project drives demand for local machine shops to supply precision tooling, adopting Industry 4.0 technologies like AI-driven milling and additive manufacturing. As part of a $50 billion precision manufacturing market, this initiative creates opportunities for suppliers in Michigan, where manufacturing jobs grew 2% since 2022, strengthening industrial supply chains.
